Rachel is a writer, photographer and music enthusiast who feels silly writing in the third-person perspective but will do so for professional biographical purposes. She is currently the assistant features editor for Alternative Press.
Rachel graduated from Kent State University with a magazine journalism major and photojournalism minor. In her time there, she was involved with The Burr, the campus’ general-interest magazine. She was a copy editor, blogger and wrote for the print edition where she won an AEJMC award for her first-person article on a mysterious migraine.
She was also Black Squirrel Radio’s general manager, a station she was involved with for eight semesters in various positions including programming, marketing and music. She was also a DJ who focused on the undiscovered and unsigned talent of both the local scene and the nation’s.
Nowadays, she enjoys looking for her next favorite band from the back of venues and watching movies—particularly those of the horror genre—with her two cats.
