About Rachel

Rachel is a writer, photographer and music enthusiast who feels silly writing in the third-person perspective but will do so for professional biographical purposes. Most recently, she was the Content Director for Alternative Press and is currently a writer and editor for hire.

Rachel graduated from Kent State University with a magazine journalism major and a photojournalism minor. In her time there, she was a copy editor and blogger for The Burr, the campus’ general-interest magazine. She also wrote for the print edition where she won an AEJMC award for her first-person article on a mysterious migraine.

She was also Black Squirrel Radio’s general manager, a station she was involved with for eight semesters in various positions including programming, marketing and music. She was also a DJ who focused on the undiscovered and unsigned artists and bands.

Nowadays, she enjoys looking for her next favorite band from the back of venues and watching movies—particularly those of the horror genre—with her two cats Dexter and Krueger.
